Google will launch a YouTube Premium Lite subscription at a much lower price

YouTube, the platform owned by Google, is preparing to take an important step in its strategy to generate profit with the launch of "Premium Lite," a new and lower-cost subscription version that will remove ads from most of its content, except for music videos. This new offer, which will soon be launched in the United States, Australia, Germany, and Thailand, represents a strategic move amid growing competition in the live streaming market, especially in the audio streaming sector. This initiative aims to meet the needs of users who primarily consume non-music content and want an ad-free experience.

A YouTube spokesperson confirmed this development to Bloomberg, stating that the company has been testing this new offer in several markets as part of its commitment to providing more choice and flexibility to its users.

The platform representative said, "We hope to expand this offer to more users in the future with the support of our partners."

With a lower price and without YouTube Music, the launch of Premium Lite could significantly shift the revenue model for content creators. Traditionally, YouTube users have primarily relied on ad revenue, but this new approach could make subscription revenue a larger part of their earnings.

Currently, YouTube Music Premium costs about $10.99, while YouTube Premium is offered at $13.99. The price of YouTube Premium Lite is expected to be lower, as it does not include a music license in this subscription.
